Search and maps

Search is how most guests find a property. The storefront pairs a filter panel with an interactive map, both driven by the settings on the Properties view under Storefront → Website (see Built-in view settings) and by Storefront → Appearance.

Guests open a Filters drawer (it shows a badge with the number of active filters) grouped into three areas:

Essentials

  • Search term — free-text search over your listings.
  • Period — check-in and check-out dates, with a “± flexible days” option to widen the range.
  • Guests — separate counters for adults (at least one), children, infants, and pets. Children and infants don’t have per-child age inputs; instead the labels show the age brackets you configure (a child and infant maximum age). Infants only appear if you’ve configured an infant age. Pets appear when a listing allows them.
  • Price — a dual-handle range slider. See the price ceiling below.

Location

  • Place picker — pick from your places, shown as a hierarchy. Typing something that isn’t a place runs a free-text location search instead.
  • Distance filters — one dropdown per distance category you’ve defined (e.g. nearest beach). See below.

Features

  • Amenities — a toggle per amenity your properties offer.
  • Tags — active tag filters appear as removable chips.

The drawer footer has Clear all and a Show N results button. Above the results, a Sort control offers Relevance (the “recommended” sort), Price ascending/descending, Guests ascending/descending, and a “closest to …” option for each distance category.

Results appear on an interactive map (MapTiler tiles by default) beside the list — a sticky column on desktop, a slide-over on mobile.

  • Price pills — each property shows as a white pill with its nightly price; properties without a price show as a dot. Hovering a result card highlights its pill on the map, and vice versa.
  • Clustering — nearby pins group into a compact count badge that expands as the guest zooms in. (Clustering can be turned off per tenant.)
  • Click a pill to open a small property card anchored to the pin.
  • Full result set — the map shows every matching property, not just the current page of cards.
  • Search as you move — panning or zooming the map automatically filters results to the visible area; an active map-area filter shows as a dismissible chip in the panel. Searching a place instead frames that whole region.
  • Listings without coordinates — on first load, while the map simply frames the results, listings with no coordinates still appear in the list (they just have no pin). Once a guest pans or zooms, the map area becomes a real filter and coordinate-less listings drop out — one more reason to keep coordinates filled in (see the completeness note in Listings overview).

Maps only appear when a map provider key is configured. On a custom domain you must supply your own key — see Domains and SEO.

If you’ve enabled the map place picker and your places have map coordinates, guests can open a map view showing each place as a labeled pill and click to select one — a visual alternative to the place dropdown.

Set Price slider maximum under Storefront → Website → Properties → Search Filters. The slider runs from 0 to this value (with a + at the top end); leave it at 0 to use the default of €500. A full-range selection applies no price filter.

Under Storefront → Website → Properties → Search Filters, set the distance threshold options (in metres) offered in the distance dropdowns. The same list applies to every distance category. Leave it empty to use the defaults (500 m, 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, 10 km); up to 20 values, de-duplicated and sorted on save. Which distance categories exist comes from your places and distance configuration — see Places and distances.

Under Storefront → Website → Properties → Search Ranking, tune the quality score behind the default “recommended” order:

  • Weights for profile completeness, recent booking recency, and overall popularity (each 0–1, relative to each other).
  • Recency horizon — how many days count as “recent”.
  • Popularity cap — the booking count beyond which extra volume no longer boosts a listing, so one popular property can’t dominate.
  • Tag boosts — award (or subtract) points for carrying specific tags.

Featured listings always sort first; tag boosts and the quality score stack on top.

Under Storefront → Website → Properties → Search Result Pagination, choose numbered pages with a total count or lightweight Previous/Next, and set how many properties show per page (this drives the grid, the map markers, and the pagination together).

If you run only a few properties, Catalog Layout (under Storefront → Website → Properties) can hide the search filters, map, sort, and pagination entirely in favor of a simple date-and-guest availability filter. See Storefront overview.
