Block dates

Blocking dates takes a listing off the market for a period without a booking behind it — use it for maintenance, owner stays, renovations, or any dates you simply don’t want bookable. Blocked dates disappear from storefront search and show as unavailable in the calendar.

Open a listing and go to its Unavailability tab (Listings → [listing] → Unavailability). This is a plain list of blocked periods — each row shows the start date, end date, number of days, and an optional reason. It is not a drag-on-a-calendar tool; you add each period through a small form.

  1. On the Unavailability tab, click Create.
  2. Pick the Period — a start and end date. Each field opens a calendar you can click through.
  3. Optionally type a Reason (e.g. “Maintenance”, “Owner stay”). This is free text, not a fixed list, and it appears on hover in the calendar.
  4. Click Save.

The date pickers highlight dates that are already taken by an existing block or booking, so you can see overlaps before you commit. The blocked dates leave storefront search as soon as you save.

Click any row in the list to reopen it. Change the dates or reason and Save, or click Delete to remove the block and make those dates bookable again.

Manual blocks and confirmed bookings both make a date unavailable, but they are tracked separately and shown as distinct colours in the calendar — a manual block is Blocked (red), a booking is Booked (blue). That lets you tell operational downtime apart from real revenue at a glance. Blocks imported from an external platform are a third, separate layer; see iCal sync.

Confirmed bookings always block dates everywhere. Pending bookings (a checkout that hasn’t been paid or confirmed yet) are handled by a setting under Settings → Booking settings: Pending Bookings Block Storefront.

  • On (hard): pending bookings block the storefront — search hides the listing for those dates, the public calendar shows them unavailable, and new checkouts on overlapping dates are rejected.
  • Off (soft): the storefront ignores pending bookings and keeps taking new bookings on those dates.

Either way, the operator console always treats pending bookings as blocked, so your calendar and availability views show them regardless of this setting.
